10 Days 10 Shorts FLASH video player component ...

This project re-introduced me to the team at Sundance for a quick implementation of a FLASH front end publishing their video showcase. It was a nice, simple application that premiered a single short film per day of the festival.

Ultimately it was an XML powered scheduling system that archived previously shown films via the infamous thumbnail rollover pattern.

This project was built using .NET 2003 and SQL server. It featured a comprehensive Film Submission process, and a number of tools for the various Admins to monitor and publish content to the site front end.

Largely a brute force effort, but also highlighted by a few technical innovations. This 2007 site was essentially a re-skinning of the 2006 Sundance site.

Particularly interesting in its use, this year Sundance also encouraged many of the filmmakers to showcase their photos in concert with a sponsorship with Hewlett Packard. As part of the site sub-section MEET the Artist, I built a largely FLASH based photo UPLOAD / SHARE / DIARY.

A relative charm working with designer Ed Fella on his maiden voyage into web design. This project is also fairly interesting in that I work several of Ed's interns from California Institute for the Arts, as well as Mr. Peter Fella from Botswana, Africa.

The site is largely automated by script that has much expertise / knowledge built into it regarding specifics of Ed Fella's work.

Whooptonez.net is of course a project that has grown and speaks for itself. It is an independently produced and maintained music site. My challenge was to create a suite of tools for the Producers to maintain and publish new artists. This of course allows them to post new material and promotions as they become relevant in the LA music scene.

It is built entirely on the LAMP toolset - LINUX/APACHE/MYSQL/PHP.

I worked on the The Sundance 2006 site as a consultant for DeepBluStudios.com, primarily as engineer/architect. It was this Sundance site that won the Sundance team their first WEBBY Award, and as such I am fairly proud to have played a key role pulling the various technical strings that sites like this require.

What a remarkable experience it was playing a role in the 2004 Ansari XPRIZE! I was of course at both test and the winning launches.

The 2004 site was a FLASH tour de force, meticuloulsly crafted by a design studio from NYC... more on this later.

This was a truly exciting year for FLASH, and it was quite remarkable to be given the opportunity to work on the SUNDANCE Website this year. You may recall this was the year that FLV became a real viable alternative to the rather mundane codec wars going on between REAL, MS, and QT ... phew. But yeah, working with DeepBluStudios and several other designers, and after several brainstorm whirlwind sessions with the Sundance team a very aggressively interactive website emerged ... It was also the first and only year Sundance charged an online fee for viewing the various online components.
